Alexandra Martin – Speaker Bio
Education & Training
Alexandra Martin graduated from Ghent University with a Master’s Degree in Law and a Post-Master Degree in Taxation. She also attended the Summer School on International Tax at Leiden University in 2013 where she studied tax treaties and advanced topics. In 2014, she went back to Leiden University and studied transfer pricing. She earned her certification as Tax Consultant by the Belgian Institute for Accountants and Tax Consultants in 2015.
Her professional career started in September 2010 when she joined BDO Belgium where she worked as a tax manager (international Mobility & Expatriate Tax). The company has a strong international network that has active staff in more than 154 countries with about 65,000 partners. In Belgium, it operates from 9 offices and has more than 550 partners spread across the country. She is a member of Global Expatriate Services at BDO whereby her role is to assist and advise clients on matters that relate to social security, labor law remuneration, and general planning. One of the most interesting thing that she offers at BDO is advising clients on the para-fiscal consequences of working with Cryptocurrencies. She helps clients understand what Cryptocurrencies are as well as their financial benefits thus helping to separate the myths from facts.
Her observation of current financial trends
By observing the current trends in the financial industry, Alexandra can see the role that Cryptocurrencies will have to play.
